Travel Tips

It has been said there are two kinds of travelers, those that have experienced a problem holiday and those that are still going to.
One of the most common problems is problems surrounding logistical arrangements. Largely related to reservations, travel dates and ticketing and can be problematic despite the ease and simplicity of the internet. It is imperative when planning any holiday to any destination that all bookings are made well in advance, followed up either by e-mail or telephone a few days before your departure and still in time to rectify problems if discovered.
Our second tip is all encompassing and covers the packing of essential items. Obviously these items might vary according to your personal plans but would perhaps include items such as passports and ID documents, applicable drivers licenses, money, credit cards, wallets and other financial needs, mobile phones and cameras are essential items nowadays, together with supporting items such as chargers and memory cards. There are also sunglasses, activity equipment, a few books, a pack of cards, a multi-purpose pocket knife and other smaller items or games which always come in handy.
How are we doing so far, the bottom line is that with tip numbers one and two you can go almost anywhere in the world and if you have forgotten anything else you can purchase them en route.
Tip number four surrounds choosing the right holiday for your needs and enjoyment. To haul three children under ten years old to a game reserve for ten days will stretch your patience and theirs too. You might enjoy spending half an hour looking at a bird or waiting for an Elephant to come to a waterhole while sipping a can of soft-drink, they certainly wouldn’t. Take a few extra minutes to analyze the real needs of all traveling partners before selecting your holiday destination.
Tip number five stays with destination choice and is all about research. That’s easy I hear you saying, once you’ve decided what type of holiday you want. However, you could also end up on a scuba diving holiday in monsoon season, perhaps to a great destination at most times of the year but in the month you have chosen, it’s infested with mosquito’s and a temperature of 45 degrees, is that what you wanted!
This might be our last tip we were confined to but it is the simplest and most important – have fun! You’ve worked hard, you deserve your holiday, please don’t forget to enjoy it. In most cases when on holiday, one is surrounded by those your love the most, those dearest and closest.

This is the only way to truly understand what it is you want from your vacation and what you want to do on your vacation.

Here are some things that you should always know about your destination. You need to know what you should be packing and planning to suit the weather of the country. You must know about the needs of travel to your particular destination lie paper works and documentations. Know if there are any diseases common to the area you will be traveling to and you can take preventative measures. You also need to know about the costs of local items so that you can be able to properly plan your budget. Do not forget to remember to include taxes and tipping. Check to see for holidays and festivals and when these occur for your destination as you may find limited services on those days.

The best holidays are the ones we are most prepared for. Do yourself a favor and make it a habit to always know as much as you can about your destination before you travel. It’ll make all the difference in the world.

Some other things that you can do to prepare yourself for travel before you travel.

1. Make 2 photocopies of your passport. Take one and put it in a safe place or leave it with a friend. Take the other one with you and keep it in a separate place from your passport, this way should your passport become lost or stolen, you can use the copy to exit the country and it will also facilitate the replacement process.

2. Email yourself important information such as airline numbers and flight information, credit card numbers, passport and driver’s license numbers and anything else that may be of importance to you. This way if anything is lost or stolen, you are just and internet connection away.

3. Know your banking information. For your credit card, make sure that the valid dates will remain valid while you’re traveling, know your available spending amount and don’t forget to leave some room on it for emergencies.

4. Learn some local phrases. If you are traveling to a country with a foreign language, it’s always nice to know some of the local phrases. Knowing the “polite words” and just a few local phrases will be a huge help. You will find that natives really appreciate this and will tend to be more receptive to your questions.

5. Be-aware of the voltage that’s used for the country you’re traveling to. If you are taking anything that requires an outlet; cell phone, computer, video camera, etc. make sure to purchase plug adapters. For things such as hair-dryers, curling irons, electric razors, etc to purchase an actual voltage converter unless your appliance has multiple voltage adaptability.

When traveling to a foreign country it’s always best to be as prepared as you can be. Do as much research as you possibly can, remember these travel tips before you travel and your trip abroad is sure to be a success.

Have the time of your life!
